Response to announcement on mandatory dental competence

The Dental Council warmly welcomes the confirmation that the existing ethical obligation for dentists to maintain their competence will now be placed on a statutory footing.

This has been a long-held priority of the Dental Council and we are looking forward to working with the Minister, the Department of Health and other stakeholders to bring forward a meaningful framework that is focussed on patient safety and that supports dentists in their ongoing commitment to provide patient care to the highest standards.
